Pickleball gains a resurgence in Sioux City

Updated: Jun 29, 2020

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- The sport of pickleball has been around since the 1960s, but has gained a resurgence in recent years. Every Thursday the group Siouxland Pickleball meets at Long Lines Family Rec Center in Sioux City to play. Pickleball is in some ways similar to tennis but is played like a big version of table tennis. With the smaller court size and rules that are easier to learn, many people, especially those of an older generation, have begun picking up the paddles for a unique way to exercise. "Well it's fun, and it's a good form of exercise. We try to be somewhat competitive, but it doesn't matter what your skill level is, it's just a good way to exercise and be healthy," said Barbara-Anne Huculak, Organizer of Siouxland Pickleball. If anybody would like to get in on the fun, Siouxland Pickleball meets at Long Lines Family Rec Center Thursdays from 9-11:00 am. You can also find out more information on their Facebook Page Siouxland Pickleball.
